Located close to Shrewsbury town centre, Copthorne Barracks was built in the late 1800s and formerly housed the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry.
All remaining ecological and arboricultural reserved matters relating to the planning permission for the redevelopment of the site were unanimously approved by the Shropshire Council Central Planning Committee just before Christmas, paving the way for the creation of 216 new homes. The impressive “Keep” building fronting onto Copthorne Road will be retained as part of the scheme and converted to flats.
FPCR conducted ecological and arboricultural surveys across the site to inform the reserved matters decision and we are continuing to work closely with the developer [BELLWAY] to ensure all necessary precautions are taken during works to avoid harm to protected species on site, and ensure retained trees are appropriately protected.
